Set of six traditional Christmas pudding charms, each of which was said to prophesy the finder's fortune for the following year. The horseshoe represents good luck, the button is for a bachelor, a wishbone for granting a wish, a coin for financial good fortune, a thimble for a spinster and a bell for a bride-to-be. Each charm is fitted with a large ring, onto which a ribbon can be attached before the charm is placed underneath a serving of pudding. We recommend not baking these charms into the pudding as our Victorian forebears did, due to the risk of them being swallowed or taking their toll on teeth!
